If No One Has Told You This Lately, Let Me...

Mar 06, 2025

It's a good day.

As I'm writing this from a coffee shop, I'm observing a 2 1/2-year-old girl in a pink kitty t-shirt eating a cake pop of the same color.  She is dancing and swaying.  Her mom shared that this is her daily treat after her physical therapy appointment.  Things are good.  Things might not be great but today can be a good day.

Today's podcast is different and special.  I decided not to have a guest this week, because I was compelled to "give what I needed to receive" (like Deborah Price's podcast interview from 2 weeks ago).

I am strong, flexible & resilient, but...

I woke up anxious the other day.

I wanted to hear someone tell me that despite general uncertainty in the world and negativity in the news, that "things are going to be ok."

GIVE WHAT YOU NEED TO RECEIVE.

Today, I am doing exactly that with my message.  Hoping it resonates with you and brings comfort and calm to you today.

Top Takeaways & Learnings:

1. Start Your Day With Intention, Not Negativity

  • Avoid looking at your phone immediately upon waking. The news and social media can bring unnecessary stress.
  • Take time to deliberate your day—Be intentioal, declare a positive mindset, before any external influences take over.

2. When You Feel Overwhelmed, Reset

  • Take a second shower, wake up again, and start over the right way.
  • Go for a walk, exercise, "move a muscle, change a thought"
  • Enjoy nature, put up a bird feeder. Scientists have found a correlation between exposure to nature, including bird watching and listening to their "songs" reduces stress and anger and improves general well-being.
  • Simple actions can shift your perspective and improve your mood.

3. Stay Focused Despite Distractions

  • There’s uncertainty in the world—economic changes, workplace challenges, personal stressors—but maintaining focus is key.
  • Choose Happy and Pick Positive thoughts,  and avoid distractions that drain energy.

4. Look Up & Look Out—Help Others

  • Focusing on others can help you get out of your own head.
Simple acts—volunteering, buying a coffee for someone, or even holding a door open—can uplift both you and those around you.

5. You Are Remarkable, Not Redundant

  • Many people face career changes and job loss, but losing a job does not define your worth.
  • Remind those around you (and yourself) that you are remarkable, not redundant.

6. Find Your ‘Awe’ Moments

  • Moments of awe remind us of the beauty and resilience in the world.
  • Challenge: Stop, look up, and find your awe—something that makes you pause and appreciate life.

7. The Power of Encouragement: “You’re Doing Great”

  • Some people never hear positive words.
  • Small affirmations—telling someone they are doing great—can have a profound impact.
  • Try using these 3 WORDS to make a difference.  Remind yourself also and tell YOU (yourself) these 3 words.

8. Kindness & Intentional Actions Create Ripple Effects

  • Kindness is not just a feel-good act; it improves happiness, engagement, and productivity.
  • Small gestures, like sharing gratitude stones, acknowledging others, and spreading positivity, contribute to a better world.

Final Messages:

✅ You are doing great.
✅ Stay focused and do what most people don’t.
✅ Pass on encouragement—someone else may need to hear it.

If you ever need to hear it again, reach out to me at [email protected] or 301-312-1600.  I'll tell you again tomorrow.
