Get Comfortable.
In a good way, not in a lazy way.
in uncomfortable situations be yourself.
Relax into your life.
And perhaps, do your best to help make others feel comfortable in certain situations. This will help you instantly relax and become comfortable.
GET COMFORTABLE:
You don't need to be anyone but you.
"Be yourself, everyone else is already taken"- Oscar Wilde
Recently, I've received tons of requests from people looking to "get comfortable" in presenting. Here are a few examples of what I share to overcome their fears.
- Be YOURSELF- be real, authentic, and perfectly "imperfect"
- Be CONFIDENT- you have good things to share, your message is worth hearing Usually, no one else KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE PRESENTING except you. If you miss something, no one else will know (or care)
- Tell "STORIES NOT SNORIES" as people remember stories 22x more than data.
- Share your content with the audience in mind
- Focus on making others FEEL COMFORTABLE, engaged, and interested
MAKE OTHERS COMFORTABLE:
Now imagine, you are hosting a meeting/conference for your team. Many of them are new and have never met each other in person. What can you do to make them feel COMFORTABLE?
A friend recently shared this exact situation, and this is what they did to make people feel comfortable:
They arranged the hotel accommodations for him. They sent another colleague to pick him up at the airport. The team provided name badges and place cards so everyone could easily remember names. They received a bio sheet of the attendees prior with photos and backgrounds. They conducted an "ice-breaker" to reintroduce themselves. They had assigned seating next to new mentors. They gave them free time to rest. They conducted a dining outing in smaller groups in order to be more comfortable for conversations.
THIS ALIGNS DIRECTLY WITH MY TOP 9 COMFORTABILITY TACTICS:
Here is the HOW TO:
- Be Authentic
- Be Empathetic
- Be Helpful
- Be Interested
- Be Interesting
- Be Kind
- Be Personal
- Be Present
- Be Understanding
Today's podcast guest features the founder of Pro Tour & Cruises, and Host of the TV Show, Travel Talk with Kasie. With over 30 years of experience, Kasie is a trailblazer in group travel.
She came up with the idea to feature me on her KINDNESS CRUISE. Truth be told, I've never been on a cruise before.
From the moment we met, she made the entire cruise experience feel seamless. Her knowledge and guidance removed any uncertainty, making it easy to navigate the world of cruising. With every step, she's there to answer questions and ensure no detail is overlooked.
Together we are tackling all the details to ensure others that join us for the inaugural KINDNESS CRUISE feel extremely comfortable. We will provide "as much or as little" of KINDNESS TACTICS as individually needed.
Comfortable.
Life enhancing comfortable.
Memories of a lifetime comfortable.
